Battle of the Ladies'

“Battle of the Ladies”, the OGA Inter House Sports Meet 2016, was held on Saturday 27th February 2016 in the Back Garden. The Sports Meet was a highly anticipated event in the OGA calendar, and the weeks prior to the Sports Meet saw the Old Girls assembling for daily sports practice in the evening hours, despite erratic schedules, career responsibilities and family commitments and coming together in an effort to propel their respective houses to victory.

The atmosphere that Saturday was electrifying despite the heat. The athletes performed brilliantly while the team relays were executed amidst hysterical cheering. Live music and food stalls heightened the day’s carnival atmosphere. Whitney House had its own band and papare and got a head start with the dancing; Dale House channeled a warrior spirit with the participation of tribal drummers; Loos House went all ‘Tina Turner’ with their ‘Simply the Best’ approach; Nixon House adopted a jungle theme, complete with a Lion mascot. Fun-filled events such as ‘back to school’ and ‘mind boggle’ had everyone in fits of laughter and the evening concluded with a performance by the OGA Hewisi Band and the March Past for which all houses had prepared in inventive ways.

Whitney was named the champions and Loos was declared runners up.

As an Association, one of our main goals is to foster strong bonds between our members with a view to uniting to contribute towards the development of the School. The Sports Meet embodied these values of fellowship and comradeship as Old Girls of different ages, and with various talents and skills came together to enjoy a day of fun-filled sporting events in the spirit of true sportsmanship.
