The OGA celebrated Founders' Day on 13th February 2016, with a service of thanksgiving at the Chapel followed by brunch in the Old Hall. This year's theme was 'Back to School' and in keeping with this, the Old Hall was beautifully decorated with pom-poms handmade by the old girls themselves. The table numbering was displayed on more “handwork” – origami fans. Seating arrangements were exhibited on a white board while the numbering references were in grade form. The tables in the corridor which seated the younger members of the OGA were in ‘detention’. A photo booth allowed the ladies’ to pose for pictures and relive their cheery school days using themed props. Aprons designed like the LC uniform, were sold as memorabilia.
The celebrations commenced with the ringing of the hand-bell, after which members were treated to popsicles and pepitas. A roaring 'Happy Birthday' was sung within true LC spirit, and the birthday cake was cut by some of the oldest members of the OGA. A Jazz band entertained the crowd and later accompanied the singing of 'My Bonny Lies Over the Ocean' and other singing-rounds, which brought back fond memories of singing periods. The ladies participated enthusiastically in a quiz on school facts, while ‘examination monitors’ were on duty to ensure that no cheating took place while answers were exchanged in secret between the tables. The winning table was awarded with a prize.
The ladies' were treated to a fabulous brunch and the day ended with the house flags being hoisted, amidst cheering from the old girls.
