The OGA is thrilled to have raised a total of Rs. 23 million to provide the school with a smart interactive board for each and every classroom. It is hoped that these boards will foster students’ curiosity and encourage immersive, interactive and collaborative learning and give students the opportunity to hone new research, analytical, communication, application and technology skills. The OGA will also be providing the school with a laptop for each classroom, which can be used by the teachers in tandem with the smart interactive boards to prepare lessons and enhance the teaching/learning experience further.
The Smart Classroom Project was launched on 16th October 2017, when OGA proudly handed over the first smart interactive board to principal, Mrs Eesha Speldewinde in the presence of sponsors, parents, well-wishers and representatives from the media. The EW Information Systems (EWIS), the providers of the equipment, gave an illuminating introduction to and demonstrated the capabilities of the smart interactive boards and Ms Yashinka Jayasinghe Alles (Education Lead at Microsoft Sri Lanka and Maldives), gave a thought provoking address on the future of education in Sri Lanka and the potential for technology to enhance students’ learning experiences.
It was a landmark occasion for the school, as Ladies’ College became the first school in the country to be equipped with a smart interactive board for each classroom in the school.
