The OGA executive committee held a farewell tea in honour of our outgoing Patroness, Eesha Speldewinde, at the ‘Table by Taru’ on 27th November 2021. Due to the restrictions on gatherings, the Executive Committee decided to limit this farewell tribute to the members’ of the committee, the OGA Trust and Chapel Trust. The afternoon begun with the OGA President, Roshanara Page welcoming the guests and honouring the great work carried out by Eesha in her capacity as Principal of Ladies’ College and Patroness of our association, during the past seven years. Anushka Abeyrathne recited a poem composed by her, titled ‘Our Miss Speldewinde’, which was followed by Aruni De Mel’s felicitation speech. The evening’s proceedings also included the cutting of a beautiful cake and a champagne toast. The formalities were thereafter followed by a high tea. The evening concluded with the lighting of a Christmas tree at nightfall during which ‘We wish you a Merry Christmas’ was sung by everyone present.
